COS × SERPENTINE PARK NIGHTS

For the seventh consecutive year, we are proud to support the Serpentine’s annual series of experimental, interdisciplinary commissions. This year’s COS × Serpentine Park Nights takes place at the Serpentine Pavilion, designed by architect Junya Ishigami.

Practitioners in the fields of art, music, poetry, theatre, augmented reality and fashion will present eight evenings of new work commissioned by the Serpentine each responding to Ishigami’s contemplative design.

For the first time, a specially conceived off-site Park Night will be hosted in store at COS Coal Drops Yard, King's Cross, with composer and playwright, Klein.

 

FRIDAY 5 JULY
PRECIOUS OKOYOMON

 

Artist and writer Precious Okoyomon works with poetry and performance in her practice, examining the history of the criminalisation and racialisation of light, darkness and the sun.

JAKOB KUDSK STEENSEN


With works ranging from immersive VR ecosystems to mixed reality installations, artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen examines how imagination, technology and ecology intertwine.

SHAWANDA CORBETT


Addressing the question of what a complete body is, artist Shawanda Corbett’s interdisciplinary practice and performances look at the different cycles of a human’s life through cyborg theory and pottery.

KIKO KOSTADINOV / VANILLAJELLABA


Menswear designer Kiko Kostadinov presents Vanillajellaba, an anonymous London collective developed around the translation of everyday consumerism and commonplaces through a distorted lens.

KLEIN

Using collagist techniques, composer and playwright, Klein, assembles recordings of her own vocals and instrumentation into unique soundscapes. 

As well as her Park Nights commission on 6 September, Klein will also be presenting a special one-off DJ set at COS Coal Drops Yard on 18 September.

1010 BENJA SL


1010 Benja SL’s extraordinary voice, songwriting capabilities and seemingly free-associative writing are paired with a unique production technique that mark him as one of the most exciting artists and musicians to discover.

CECILIA VICUÑA


Cecilia Vicuña is a pioneering artist, poet, filmmaker and activist, whose work addresses some of the pressing concerns of the modern world, including ecological destruction, human rights and cultural homogenisation.

 

FRIDAY 4 OCTOBER
CARRIE MAE WEEMS


Family relationships, cultural identity and power systems are key themes explored by the pioneering and influential American artist, Carrie Mae Weems. Primarily working in photography, she uses a variety of mediums to investigate ideas, from installation to video and text.

COS × SERPENTINE GALLERIES
Family Weekends

For the second year running, we are also supporting Serpentine Galleries Family Weekends, giving children and their families a chance to explore the Pavilion and Serpentine Galleries from a playful and original perspective.

This year’s artists in residence are One of My Kind (OOMK), a collaborative publishing practice led by Rose Nordin, Sofia Niazi and Heiba Lamara. Over the course of the year, OOMK will develop a series of workshops exploring the idea of the commons – the cultural and natural resources that can be used by all members of society.



BIG FAMILY WEEKEND
SATURDAY 29 – SUNDAY 30 JUNE. 10am - 6pm

A weekend of artist-led workshops for children and families responding to Faith Ringgold’s summer exhibition and exploring the themes of art, activism, poetry and print.

With art collective One of My Kind (OOMK), artist Harold Offeh, designers Rike Glaser and Namuun Zimmerman and poet Belinda Zhawi.

The event is free, drop-in and suitable for families with children of all ages.


FAMILY WEEKEND: BUILDINGS IN COMMON
SATURDAY 10 – SUNDAY 11 AUGUST. 1pm - 5pm

Join this year’s artists in residence, One of My Kind (OOMK), to design a collaborative city. Using a Risograph printing press, children and their families can make images of their designs and add them to a collective cityscape.

The event is free, drop-in and suitable for families with children of all ages.
