Buy better, keep forever ‐ this is our hope.
We combine this approach to design with a focus on sustainable fabrics and material innovation. There isn’t one solution to the issues facing our industry and our planet ‐ there are many. Some are simple, most are complex. Our sustainability team is working hard every day to find them.
Right now, one of our central goals is to reach 100% recycled, repurposed or more sustainably sourced materials by 2030, if not sooner.
What we do at COS is also part of a wider vision. Together, the H&M group is working towards total circularity: explore the steps we’re taking here.
Our fibres and fabrics are either organic, recycled or sustainably sourced in collaboration with our partners’ certification that ensures animal, environmental and social welfare. To qualify as a ‘sustainable fabric’ a garment must be made from at least 50% sustainable fibres ‐ but our clothes often contain a lot more! Recycled and repurposed natural fibres such as cashmere, wool and cotton are the only exception to this rule (minimum 20%), so we can make sure the overall quality of the fabric meets our standards. We’re working on innovative ways to bring a higher and higher proportion of recycled fibres into our compositions, and this is improving all the time.
Because of the complex process involved, we can only make these bags in small quantities, so keep an eye out for when you could next get your hands on one...
We’ve carefully mended some damaged pieces from our own collection with the help of our friends at The Renewal Workshop. These styles have been given a new life, reducing the impact on the environment.
