The COS 5

Five iconic pieces. Five design principles.
Introducing COS’ signature styles of the season.

‘The COS 5 are designed with a focus on the fit, fabric, construction, colours and – of course – with extreme attention to detail.’

Christophe Copin,
Head of Menswear Design.
What makes a wardrobe icon? At COS, the team use a set of five guiding design principles in the making of each of their seasonal signatures.

Designed to live beyond the season.

Perfected in the COS atelier, from stitch to seam.

Made responsibly with minimal impact on the planet.

Cut with the wearer in mind.

Carefully crafted using the finest fabrics.

Sweatshirt by COS.

Comfort comes first.

Perfect for cosy weekends, travelling and every moment of downtime in between, investing in the right sweatshirt is an easy way to elevate your off-duty wardrobe.

Part of the Pause by COS collection, this sustainably minded design is crafted from 100% organic cotton with a loopback terry feel that’s both light and breathable – making it ideal for the changing seasons. Cut for a relaxed fit which is designed to give extra room for added movement, it can be layered with ease over simple base layers or worn on its own for an extra-relaxed feel. To complete the look, the designers used a special pigment dye on the fabric. The result? A faded, lived-in appearance that takes the humble everyday sweatshirt out of its comfort zone and into a new era of downtime dressing.

Shirt by COS.

Powerfully simple, thoughtfully made.

The white shirt has been a COS signature since day one. Since then, the team has been perfecting this wardrobe staple – and its many iterations – to keep it feeling fresh and relevant for the modern wardrobe. This season, the brand has turned its focus to the grandad collar.

An understated style icon, the grandad shirt strikes the perfect balance between elevated and effortless. With its minimal standing collar and fresh white finish, it brings a sense of ease to dressed-up tailored looks, while remaining smart enough to add a touch of polish when paired with more casual companions like a pair of navy chinos or sustainably made denim.

This latest design is updated in 100% cotton poplin, which is sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative (also known as BCI) – an organisation improving the production standards for cotton farmers and the environment. COS’ pattern cutters also made use of any left-over fabric to reduce the amount of waste and their impact on the planet.

Designed in COS’ London atelier and made in Turkey, this piece is cut in the brand’s regular fit – which sits neatly with room for movement through the chest and arms. It is detailed with iridescent Mother of Pearl buttons and finished with two unique COS signatures: a special button fastening under the front placket and intricate stitching under the collar.

Coat by COS.

Smart, sophisticated and a little subversive.

When it comes to wrapping up during the cooler months, a classic wool coat is a defining piece for any wardrobe – and when you find ‘The One’, you’ll be reaching for it time and time again, season after season.

Taking inspiration from classic single-breasted styles, the team of in-house designers experimented with tailoring techniques to create a double-faced design that’s completely new to COS. By using two layers of fabric, this innovative structure means it has the same feel on the inside as it does on the outside and a seamless handcrafted appearance. The wool is also blended with sustainably sourced Tencel™ lyocell to make it more breathable and feel softer to the touch. Cut for a relaxed fit with an unstructured shape, it has a three-button closure, notched lapels, slanted side pockets and it is lined at the sleeves with pure Tencel™ lyocell to make it easier to slip on and off.

‘If I had to choose one of our icons to buy first, it would be the tailored coat,’ explains Christophe Copin, head of menswear design at COS. ‘It’s such an effortless winter piece, you could wear it on so many occasions.’ Only one question remains: whether to invest in understated black or wintery brown melange? Decisions, decisions....

Jumper by COS.

Cashmere that cares…

Just when you thought the luxurious feel of this soft staple couldn’t get any better, COS cashmere now has a fully traceable future on the horizon. In addition to using the finest yarns, their collection now features cashmere that is certified by the Good Cashmere Standard – an organisation that cares for the wellbeing of cashmere goats, protects the environment and supports the herders that produce it.

In their latest development, the brand has reworked the classic cashmere jumper. Its unmistakeably soft and lightweight feel is the result of using fine high-gauge yarns, knitted with a loose tension. The yarns are also undyed which creates a textured marl-effect finish – thanks to the variety in the coats of the cashmere goats. With four natural colours to choose from, this piece is set to become both a cool-weather staple and a treasured investment.

Suit by COS.

A new take on tradition.

Whether you’re a well-seasoned suit wearer or look to this sartorial hero to add a touch of polish on special occasions, a beautifully crafted blazer and trousers combination deserves a place in every wardrobe.

So what makes a COS suit today? Though individual designs may differ in shape or seasonal fabrics, each piece is meticulously handcrafted in the London atelier using techniques inspired by the traditional art of tailoring and finished with a series of signature details that embody the COS design aesthetic.

This suit of the season is no exception. Crafted using 100% virgin Italian wool, it takes the shape of a single-breasted slim fit design. With darts at the front and lightly padded shoulders, it is tailored to sit close to the body for sharp and defined look. When it comes to the smaller details, classic features are elevated in subtle, thoughtful ways. It has pockets that sit straighter than traditional styles, a hanger loop design that’s unique to COS and a discreet seam on the sleeve – that you’ll also find if you pair it with one of their shirts. And to finish? Signature contrast piping along the lining to highlight the making of a suit that’s built to stand the test of time.
