SAMUEL ZELLER

Swiss photographer Samuel Zeller reveals the beauty within. For his book Botanical, he travelled to over 20 cities to capture serene scenes from botanical gardens. Shot through glass, his images give a different perspective on nature, indoors.

Samuel Zeller

“I’ve travelled to many different places in Europe, aiming to seek out those glimpses of nature protected from the elements. It took me 26 years to understand how fragile life can be and how important it is for us to slow down and do what we love. I guess that all good things take time to grow.”

Samuel Zeller

Samuel Zeller is the son of artists and spent his formative years as a graphic designer. A painterly influence is clear in his work as is a designer’s eye. His shots have the smudgy energy of impressionist works, while his inclusion of the metal structure of the greenhouse creates a framing and flattening two-dimensional, canvas-like effect that plays with our sense of foreground and background.
