For us there is nothing better than using the most buttery leathers, crispest cottons, softest cashmeres and finest silks for you to wear over and over again.
The care instructions on our garments’ labels will give you advice on how to best care for your garment, making sure that they remain long-loved favourites for years to come.Leather
Soft and buttery, our leather is reliably hard-wearing, yet as a natural material it can be sensitive. We suggest you take extra care of leather items by keeping them protected from the rain and rough surfaces which can scuff and damage their surface, as well as investing in professional cleaning when necessary. As part of our ethical policy, we only ever use leather that is a by-product of the food industry.
Many of our shoes have leather soles for a high quality finish. Although treated to be as hard-wearing as possible, they are best worn in dry conditions and on smooth surfaces. For wear in wet conditions and on rough surfaces, we suggest that you have them re-soled by a shoe specialist to protect from damage.
Comfortable and versatile, we use cotton in countless ways to create different textures and tactile finishes. Whether it’s soft and stretchy cotton jersey, sheer and fine woven cotton, or crisp and papery cotton poplin, we think that cotton is the perfect foundation for any wardrobe. Easy to care for, cotton is fully machine washable and if worn and treated with care, will last for a long time.Wool
We use a wide variety of wool to make our garments, from soft merino and lambswool to fuzzy mohair. Wools don’t need washing as often as other fibres might, they will last a lot longer between washes if you spot clean them where needed and simply air them out.
When you do wash them, remember that wool fibres can be prone to pilling and felting, so we suggest that you avoid high temperatures and friction. Setting your washing machine to a cold wash and only using mild detergents will help.
When drying, we suggest that you lay your woollens flat on a towel to absorb any extra moisture, whilst gently reshaping them (knits can be heavy when wet and that extra weight will pull them out of shape if you dry them over a rail or hanging up). Remember, no knitted things will enjoy a trip round the tumble dryer, so always air dry if possible.
Merino wool garments should be ironed after they are washed to remove wrinkles.Cashmere
Cashmere is one of the rarest fibres in the world, combed from the wiry undercoat of Chinese and Mongolian goats. Because it is soft and fuzzy, cashmere can be prone to pilling, caused by rubbing during regular use. Although this is perfectly normal, we suggest that you treat your cashmere with extra care and wash it by hand or on a cool, delicate cycle in the washing machine, using mild detergent.Hand-knits
A great example of classic craftsmanship, hand-knitting ensures that many of our jumpers, scarves and other items have a unique character and charm. As they can be delicate, we suggest that you take extra care with them, preferably washing by hand or on a wool cycle in the washing machine, using a mild detergent.Silk
Fluid and soft, silk is used often in our collections, because we like the way it feels, moves and drapes. As a naturally delicate fabric, we suggest that you always take care when you wear it and either have it professionally cleaned or wash by hand with mild detergent specially for silk as normal detergent can destroy the silk fibres.Cupro
With a soft, luxurious feel, Cupro is a synthetic alternative to silk made from dissolved cotton or plant fibres. Draping beautifully whilst being comfortable and breathable, you can wash light colours on a standard cycle in the washing machine, whilst darker colours should be professionally cleaned to avoid transfer.Scuba
Made from a mix of synthetic fibres, this is a padded, foamy fabric that we call ‘scuba’ because it reminds us of neoprene scuba diving suits. A striking, modern fabric, it creates a structured silhouette whilst being soft and comfortable to wear. To ensure it maintains its shape, we would advise that you have it professionally cleaned.
